Change in thinking, become calm and sensible
Ishaan believes that after getting the captaincy, there was a big change in his thinking. Responsibility made him more calm and wise. He said- Now he has come a long way from his wild child days. He said- Now he will have to play the main role for the team. He further said – When a player is young, he trusts the senior players and thinks that his job is to support them. But now he has established himself in the team, so he himself will have to take the responsibility of scoring runs and taking the team’s score up.

Captaincy taught Ishaan to understand the entire field instead of limiting himself to just his batting. He said that the captain has to keep an eye on the conditions throughout the day. He has to see what is happening and what is not, and also takes care of all his players.

Team benefits from player’s improvement
Ishaan also admitted that after becoming the captain, he had to learn to pay attention to the small needs of the players. It is not enough to bat in the nets and go away. It is the captain’s responsibility to help his teammates improve. Because when the players are better, only then the team reaches its goal. His innings of 270 runs in the Duleep Trophy final was also an example of this changed thinking. Ishan said that he could have played aggressive shots on many occasions, but he gave priority to the team’s goal.

East Zone won the toss and decided to bat first and the aim was to score a big score. In such a situation, Ishaan remained patient, focused on shot selection and played long innings. He said that he was very happy with this innings, because he gave more importance to the team goal than individual performance.
