Pune/Table Tennis: Vihan Sawant, Rishabh Behere and Anvay Phatak defeated the seeded players to enter the next round of the Under 14 PMDTA Ranking Rohit Shinde Tennis Academy Bronze Series 2026 for boys and girls organized on behalf of the Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association (PMDTA) and under the sponsorship of KPIT and Solinco.
Top seed Yaira Samson defeated Kiara Nimish 6-5 (1) in a tiebreak to advance to the second round of the Under-14 Girls' category at the Rohit Shinde Tennis Academy (RSTA) tennis courts at Karvey Road. Ninth seed Hridavi Limkar also put in a strong performance to clinch a one-sided 6-0 win over Parineeta Kadam.

However, some surprising results were reported in the children's group. Vihan Sawant registered an unexpected victory by defeating 13th seed Atharva Barskar 6-4. Vihan controlled the match from the start with aggressive play and sealed his place in the next round by defeating the seeded opponent. Rishabh did not give the opponent a chance to win a single game with a good combination of effective serve and aggressive hitting in the match.
Newcomer overcomes ranking
Apart from this, unseeded Anvay Phatak maintained his lead by winning 6-3 over 10th seeded Rivansh Bahirat. Anvay displayed a calm and aggressive game and defeated the ranked opponent and strengthened his claim in the tournament. Due to these victories against the ranked players, Vihan Sawant, Rishabh Behere and Anvay Phatak have attracted special attention in the under 14 boys group, and their performance in the next round has attracted the attention of tennis lovers.
