The government had extended the deadline for LPG refill booking in rural areas. But that term has now been reduced. On Monday, the government announced that the LPG refill booking period will be the same in both urban and rural areas. According to the announcement made by the Minister of State Suresh Gopi, the deadline for booking in rural areas has also been reduced from 45 days to 25 days.
Pressure on LPG supply
Minister of State for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Tourism Gopi said the ongoing conflict in the Middle East was putting pressure on LPG supply. Therefore, the deadline for refill booking was fixed at 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas. He further wrote in the Facebook post, “Considering the current improvement in LPG supply situation and significant reduction in demand for refills, the central government has relaxed this restriction. Now, all domestic LPG consumers in urban or rural areas will be able to book refills at 25-day intervals.”
People were facing difficulties
Due to the Hormuz blockade and gas shortage, rebooking of gas was mandated every 45 days, causing great inconvenience to the public.
