ICC action on Fatima Sana

Fatima targeted Shafali during the match in Dubai on Saturday. Shafali took an aggressive stance to open India's innings, but was dismissed off Fatima's sixth ball. Shafali played the ball straight towards Fatima and the Pakistan captain took an easy catch. Fatima then gestured towards the pavilion. The send off done by the captain Fatima Sana showed her the way out. The ICC considered this act to be a violation of Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

This rule deals with words, actions or gestures which may insult or provoke an aggressive reaction from the dismissed batsman. The ICC has fined Fatima Sana 10 percent of her match fee for violating the code of conduct. She has also been given one demerit point. This was her second offense in 24 months. Earlier, San was awarded a demerit point during the T20 International against Ireland in Dublin on 6 August 2025. Fatima has pleaded guilty and accepted the punishment suggested by the ICC International Match Referee Panel Supriya Das, thus avoiding the need for a formal hearing.
