Good news to SC-ST students of Bihar, government gave a big gift

Patna. There is great news for the students of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe category of Bihar. The state government is preparing to build modern hostels in all 534 blocks of the state in the next four years. For this, the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department has prepared a proposal. The proposal will be placed before the Cabinet after getting approval from the concerned departments.

Rs 2.44 crore will be spent on a hostel

According to the proposal, about Rs 2 crore 44 lakh will be spent on the construction of each new hostel. At present, 139 hostels are running for SC-ST students in the state, while 60 other hostels have already been approved. After the implementation of the new scheme, students at the block level will be able to get better facilities for accommodation and studies.

100 bed hostel in every district

The government also plans to start 100-bed Savitri Bai Phule hostels in each district. For this, land has so far been made available in 18 districts. This will especially help the students coming from remote areas to continue their studies.

Free education and accommodation

Currently 91 residential schools are running for SC-ST students in Bihar. The establishment of 28 new residential schools has also been approved. In these institutions, students get free living and study facilities. Many students studying here have achieved success in competitive examinations like NEET, JEE.

Get Rs 1000 every month

Many facilities are provided by the government to the students living in hostels. Each student is given 15 kg of food grains free every month, which includes 9 kg of rice and 6 kg of wheat. Apart from this, under the Chief Minister Hostel Grant Scheme, Rs 1,000 per month is sent to the account through DBT. Emphasis has also been laid on other educational facilities including digital library.
