An important meeting was held with the hoteliers and their representatives of the district in the Collectorate Auditorium on Tuesday under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Charcha Gaur. The objective of the meeting was to develop Sonbhadra as a major tourist destination, strengthen the tourist accommodation system and encourage investment in hotel and hospitality sector.
The District Magistrate said that details of tourists coming to the district and visitors staying in hotels should be made available to the District Tourism Office regularly, so that an effective action plan can be prepared on the basis of tourism related data.
He called upon the hoteliers to take maximum advantage of the subsidy schemes available by the government for setting up hotels, dhabas, restaurants and homestays and expand their establishments by signing MOUs through the Industries Department. The District Magistrate said that wide publicity will be done to connect the tourists from India and abroad coming to Varanasi and surrounding districts with the natural, religious and historical places of Sonbhadra. This will boost tourism, increase local employment opportunities and give a new impetus to the economy of the district.
District Tourism Officer Rajesh Kumar Bharti, Fire Safety and Electric Safety Officer, Additional District Information Officer Vinay Kumar Singh, entrepreneur friend Nitin Prakash Singh and hoteliers of the district and their representatives were present in the meeting.
