Vadodara, 08 September 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone and inaugurated various development works worth Rs 35,000 crore in Vadodara, Gujarat. The Prime Minister dedicated three important sections of the 'Western Dedicated Freight Corridor' to the nation. With this, the way for operation of the freight corridor has become difficult. On this occasion, the Prime Minister highlighted the rapid transformation taking place in India's transport and logistics sector. He said that the completion of the construction work of 2800 km long Dedicated Freight Corridor is a historic achievement for 21st century India and is a proof of the changing work culture of the country.
The Prime Minister had said that this project was conceived in 2006 but it could not move forward. He noted that the rapid work carried out during the last decade has brought about a complete transformation of the country's logistics system, which is the lifeblood of rapidly growing India.
The Prime Minister had said that separation of freight corridors from passenger services has significantly improved efficiency. This has resulted in reduced travel time, fuel savings and reduced impact on the environment, as well as establishing a faster and cleaner supply chain for the country.
Modi had said that the youth of India are admiring the government's efforts in the fields of solar, nuclear and wind energy. Talking about the future of technology, the Prime Minister had noted that emerging industries including Artificial Intelligence will be completely energy dependent. For this purpose, the government is focusing on establishing a strong and multi-sector energy ecosystem.
The Prime Minister had said that India has emerged as a global manufacturing hub and is now producing its own state-of-the-art trains and metro coaches. Emphasizing on the 'chip-to-ship' vision for local products, he noted that a comprehensive and self-reliant supply chain is being established in the country, covering everything from high-tech electronic products to large ocean-going vessels.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also flagged off goods train services from New Sanand, New Makarpura, New Umargam and New JNPT. Apart from this, he also flagged off the new passenger train service between Tanda Road and Vadodara. This service will connect the hinterland tribal areas of Alirajpur with the national railway network.
Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone of three railway expansion projects worth more than Rs 9700 crore and three national highway projects worth approximately Rs 1780 crore. Its objective is to strengthen the connectivity between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. He also inaugurated various civic amenities and infrastructure projects of Gujarat Government worth Rs 2600 crore. This includes a 110 MW floating solar plant at Kadana Dam and houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
The Prime Minister will also visit Navsari, where he will inaugurate the new, AI-enabled and state-of-the-art office of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
