After Janmashtami, make special kadhi on Kanha ji's Chhathi, note down the easy recipe.

Tezzbuzz Desk-The festival of Kanha ji's Chhathi is considered very special for the devotees of Lord Krishna. On this occasion, various types of dishes and Satvik dishes are prepared for Bal Gopal in homes. If you also want to make something tasty and easy to enjoy on Chhathi, then curry without garlic and onion can be a good option.

This kadhi prepared from curd and gram flour is slightly sour in taste and very tasty. The special thing is that it does not require garlic and onion. The seasoning of cumin, mustard, asafoetida, curry leaves and dry red chilli further enhances its taste and aroma. It can be served with rice, puri or roti.

Ingredients to make Satvik Kadhi

  • 1 cup curd
  • 3 tbsp gram flour
  • 3 cups water
  • half teaspoon turmeric
  • Half tsp red chilli powder
  • salt as per taste
  • 3 spoons ghee
  • half teaspoon cumin
  • half teaspoon mustard
  • 1 pinch asafoetida
  • 2 dried red chillies
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • some green coriander

Prepare Kadhi like this

First of all, put curd and gram flour in a big vessel and beat it well. Now add water little by little and stir the mixture continuously. Due to this, lumps of gram flour will not be formed and the curry batter will remain completely smooth.

Now add turmeric and salt to it and mix well. Do not keep the batter too thick, because after cooking the consistency of the kadhi automatically becomes thick.

Put curd-gram flour solution in a deep pan and cook on low flame. Keep stirring it continuously for the first few minutes. When the curry starts boiling, reduce the flame and let it cook for about 15 minutes. Keep stirring it in between. When the raw aroma of gram flour goes away, turn off the gas.

Enhance taste with seasoning

Now to prepare tadka, heat ghee in a small pan. Add cumin and mustard seeds in it. When both start crackling, add dry red chilli, curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida. Immediately add the prepared tempering to the curry and add finely chopped coriander on top. Keep the kadhi covered for some time, so that the aroma of the tempering dissolves properly in it.

Serve like this on Kanha ji's Chhathi

Satvik Kadhi can be served with hot rice, puri or roti. While making food for bhog, select the ingredients according to the worship method and tradition of your home. If the curd is too sour, its quantity can be kept a little less, so that the taste of the curry remains balanced. It is also important to cook the curry well on low flame. This removes the raw smell of gram flour and makes the curry taste better.
