Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf has warned the US against attacking Iran's energy facilities. He said that Iran's oil and gas production system is spread over a wide area and its security is not easy.
Ghalibaf said that if Iranian assets were targeted, Iran would also retaliate. He claimed that Iran has already demonstrated the capability of such a response. This warning has come at a time when American officials are talking about targeting Iranian oil tankers.
American officials warned about oil tankers
US War Secretary Pete Hegseth has said that if Iran attacks American ships, the US will target its oil tankers. He claimed that Iran's navy and air force had suffered huge losses.
The US Central Command has also shared a video of the action against three Iranian crude oil tankers. According to the US command, these tankers were part of a network through which Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard and its regional allies received financial support.
CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper said an attack on American ships could impose a significant economic cost on Iran's oil supplies.
Erdogan accused Israel of harming peace efforts
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan blamed Israel for the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, accusing it of deliberately sabotaging peace efforts. He said that due to Israel's action the 14-point Islamabad agreement signed between Iran and America in June was affected.
According to Erdogan, the impact of the war is not limited only to Iran and the Gulf countries, but the whole world is having to pay its price. He said that unless there is a change in the thinking that sees peace as a threat, it will be difficult to end the regional crisis.
It is reported that the proposed agreement included provisions such as stopping military action, safe movement of commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, relief from sanctions and a US-backed economic development program worth at least $300 billion for Iran.
