The practical examination of science and home science in high school will now be of 30 marks.

Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council has made changes in the system of internal assessment of experimental work of science and home science subjects at high school level.

Council Secretary Bhagwati Singh gave this information on Wednesday. He said that now at the high school level, a 30 marks experimental examination of both Science and Home Science subjects will be conducted by the Council. According to the amended regulation issued by the Council, internal assessment of practical work in other high school subjects will be done on the basis of five point scale grading as before. Science and home science have been kept separate from this system. The Council itself will conduct a practical examination of 30 marks in both these subjects.

The Council has clarified that the marks obtained in the practical examination and the grades given in other subjects will be clearly recorded in the mark sheet. This amendment has been made in Regulation 3 of Chapter 13 of the rules of the Council. Secretary Bhagwati Singh said that the purpose of the revised system is to evaluate the experimental work of science and home science subjects in a more systematic and uniform manner. In both these subjects, practical examination will now be conducted at the council level, while the system of internal assessment will continue in other subjects.

The Council has asked to ensure its wide publicity by sending copies of the instructions to the concerned officials and district school inspectors. Also, schools have been instructed to make necessary preparations as per the revised system.
