Chhattisgarh Railway Project: Bilaspur (Uslapur)-Pendra Road third line and Katni-Pendra Road fourth line will strengthen the state's rail network.

Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has welcomed the approval of three important multitracking rail projects costing Rs 10,783 crore by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Chhattisgarh Railway Project). with the Chief Minister Said that among these, Bilaspur (Uslapur)-Pendra Road Third Line and Katni-Pendra Road Fourth Line are especially important from the point of view of development of Chhattisgarh. These projects will increase the capacity of the state's rail network, expand passenger facilities and make freight transportation more accessible and effective for industry and business.
Chief Minister Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, work is being done at an unprecedented pace towards building modern and strong rail infrastructure in the country. Chhattisgarh is also getting continuous benefits from it. The new multitracking projects will give impetus to the resolve of a developed India-developed Chhattisgarh and will expand new possibilities of economic activities, industrial development and employment in the state. Chief Minister Sai has expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the people of Chhattisgarh to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for this important decision.
Capacity and connectivity of rail network will expand
The three projects (Chhattisgarh Railway Project) approved by the Union Cabinet include Kharagpur-Jharsuguda (Bagdehi) fourth line, Katni-Pendra Road fourth line and Bilaspur (Usalapur)-Pendra Road third line included. Their total estimated cost is Rs 10 thousand 783 crore and it is planned to be completed by the year 2029-30. These three projects will strengthen rail connectivity in 14 districts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 656 kilometers. With this, about 4 thousand 790 villages and a population of about 56 lakh will get the benefit of better rail connectivity.
Bilaspur-Pendra Rail Corridor will get strength
The approval of Bilaspur (Uslapur)-Pendra Road third line and Katni-Pendra Road fourth line has special significance for Chhattisgarh. These projects will increase the capacity of this important rail corridor. The additional line capacity will make the operation of trains smoother, help in reducing the pressure on rail traffic and make the movement of passengers and goods trains more effective and reliable. Increasing the capacity of this rail corridor will also strengthen the connectivity of Chhattisgarh with other parts of the country. Along with common travelers, industrial and commercial activities of the state will also benefit from this.
Industry and trade will get new momentum
The sanctioned rail projects are also important for transportation of vital commodities including coal, cement, iron and steel. Multitracking will significantly increase the freight capacity of the rail network. The three projects combined are expected to create additional freight capacity of approximately 27 million tonnes per annum. Chhattisgarh (Chhattisgarh Railway Project) is a state rich in mineral and industrial resources. In such a situation, better rail and logistics network will become an important basis for the industrial development of the state. With easier transportation of goods, industries will get better logistics facilities and new opportunities for investment, trade and employment will also be encouraged in the state.
There will be better access to major centers of tourism and faith
These projects will also improve the rail connectivity of important tourist, religious and cultural places in Chhattisgarh (Chhattisgarh Railway Project) and related areas. These include many important sites including Achanakmar Tiger Reserve, archaeological site of Malhar, Maa Mahamaya Temple located in Ratanpur and Khutaghat Dam. Better connectivity will boost tourism activities in these areas and will also strengthen the local economy and employment opportunities.
PM Gati Shakti's vision will get strengthened
These projects have been prepared in accordance with the Prime Minister Gati Shakti National Master Plan. Their objective is to strengthen multimodal connectivity, ensure seamless movement of people, goods and services and increase logistics efficiency. Railways is an important means of environment-friendly and energy-efficient transportation. These three projects are expected to save about 12 crore liters of oil import in the country and reduce about 62 crore kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions, which is equivalent to the environmental impact of planting about 2.48 crore trees. Chief Minister Shrisai Said that strong rail network is an important basis for the overall development of any state. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, railway infrastructure is expanding rapidly in Chhattisgarh. New railway projects will play an important role in building a developed Chhattisgarh by providing easy transportation, strong connectivity and giving impetus to industrial progress in the state.
