New Delhi. There is news of relief from the Central Government for rural families and consumers associated with the Ujjwala scheme. A decision has been taken to eliminate the gap existing between village and city consumers regarding booking of LPG cylinders. This will provide relief to rural customers from the long wait to get the cylinder again.
45 day ban ends
Earlier, a gap of about 45 days was kept for booking the second cylinder in rural areas. This system was causing problems for large families and houses with high gas consumption. Now by removing this difference, it will be easier to book the cylinder as per requirement. Consumers will be able to book a second LPG cylinder after an interval of 25 days.
Instructions given to oil companies
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has issued instructions to major oil marketing companies in this regard. The new system will be applicable to the consumers of Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum.
This restriction was implemented in February 2026 to control supply-related circumstances and hoarding. Now that the system has become normal, steps have been taken to provide relief to rural consumers from the problems they faced earlier.
This decision is expected to provide convenience in providing cooking gas especially to rural families and Ujjwala beneficiaries at the time of need.
