US Attacks Iran: Washington. Tension between America and Iran has once again increased rapidly. On September 8, the US military said it targeted five oil tankers linked to Iran. A few hours later, Iran fired 20 ballistic missiles towards the US military base in Jordan. According to the Jordanian military, its air defense systems destroyed 18 missiles en route. Two missiles fell in areas far from populated areas.

Claim of targeting American warship

The US Central Command i.e. CENTCOM claimed that Iran tried to target a US Navy warship with ballistic missiles twice in two days. According to America, both attacks were foiled.

There is no information about any American soldier being injured in this action. CENTCOM said that in response five oil tankers belonging to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps were attacked.

Claim of targeting 10 ships in Hormuz Strait

Following the US attacks, Iran has claimed action against 10 ships in the Strait of Hormuz. These are said to include two American ships and eight oil tankers. Iran says that these ships were passing through the restricted area. Meanwhile, Iran’s IRGC has also claimed to have captured an American sub-marine drone and released its picture.

Oil supply concerns due to attack on Kharg Island

The US action is said to have targeted four tankers in the Gulf of Oman and one near Kharg Island. The US described these ships as being linked to an alleged shadow network raising funds for Iran. Kharg Island is a major center of Iran’s oil business. A large quantity of crude oil is exported from here. In such a situation, the possibility of impact on global oil supply may increase due to increase in military tension in the region.

Rubio warned of further retaliation

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned Iran that any attempt to attack US naval ships will be responded to. On the other hand, the IRGC has warned some ships near Kuwait and Bahrain.

Iran has said that ships belonging to the American side could be targeted. The ever-increasing military action between the two countries has increased concerns about regional security and maritime trade.
