South Africa opener Jordan Hermann scored 150 on debut to take the score to 348/6 against Namibia in the first ODI in Windhoek on Wednesday. Hermann, who has played six T20Is for the Proteas, equalled the record for the highest score by a player on debut, amassing 150 off 126 balls. Earlier, South Africa’s Matthew Breetzke also accumulated 150 off 148 balls on debut against New Zealand in 2025 during an ODI tri-series in Pakistan.

Hermann hit 17 fours and three sixes. He also stitched a 190-run stand with Toni de Zorzi for the second wicket after Connor Esterhuizen managed just 10 runs before his dismissal.
Hermann was unstoppable while de Zorzi faced 84 balls for his 72, playing second fiddle to the debutant.
Dewald Brevis and Corbin Bosch added important runs to the total in the death overs.
Trumpelmann was the best bowler for the host nation, taking 4/68 while JJ Smit and Gerhard Erasmus picked up one wicket each.
South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe will host the 2027 ODI World Cup.
