Lucknow. In view of the security during the BRICS summit in Delhi, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has banned flying activities in flying training organizations (FTOs) operating from Uttar Pradesh during the three-day period of the event.
DGCA ban before BRICS
DGCA, in a message sent to all FTO institutions, said that in view of the BRICS Summit-2026 to be held in the national capital, these restrictions will remain in force from 7 am on September 11 to 11 pm on September 13. According to the message issued on September 7, this restriction will also be applicable to flight training organizations present in Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.
Ban on aircraft, micro-light and hang gliders
The 18th BRICS Summit will be held from 11 to 13 September at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The order clearly states that during the stipulated period, 'no aircraft of any kind, including light/micro-light aircraft, hang gliders, helicopters, etc., will be allowed to fly or operate' from any FTO present in Uttar Pradesh during the stipulated period. These steps are being taken as a precautionary security measure.
What will be banned in UP?
Ban on flying activities from all FTOs (Flying Training Organisations) of Uttar Pradesh.
Flying of light and microlight aircraft will not be allowed.
Flying activities like helicopters and hang gliders will also remain under the ban.
Prohibition on operation of light/microlight aircraft, UAVs and other long-range aerial vehicles.
There is also a ban on flying drones, hang gliders, paragliders, paramotors and aero-models.
Restriction within 300 km radius
DGCA said these restrictions are being imposed “keeping in mind the BRICS Summit-2026” and have been approved by the competent authority. According to the order, operation of light and micro-light aircraft, unmanned flying vehicles and similar long-range aircraft has been banned within a radius of 300 kilometers of Delhi during the duration of the conference.
The Directorate of Flying Training, in an email sent along with the message, said that these measures are being taken as a 'precautionary security measure' and are aimed at ensuring 'safe and smooth conduct' of the BRICS Summit-2026. DGCA has directed all concerned to cooperate fully and ensure strict compliance with the instructions.
