New Delhi. Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to come to Delhi to participate in the BRICS summit. There is talk that Jinping will reach India on Saturday. If Xi Jinping comes to Delhi, he will be visiting India seven years after the conflict between Indian soldiers and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh. Earlier, Xi Jinping had come to India in the year 2019 on the invitation of PM Narendra Modi. Whereas, in 2018, both the leaders met in Wuhan, China.
According to media reports, there is a possibility of bilateral talks between Xi Jinping and PM Modi. This is expected to resolve the ongoing conflict between India and China to some extent. Recently, India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had visited China. Doval had held a meeting with China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi to resolve the border dispute. After which India and China once again reiterated their commitment to maintain peace on LAC. However, despite making such commitments, China keeps sending its troops to violate the LAC every day.
There was a clash between Indian soldiers and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh on the night of 15 June 2020. In this conflict, Indian Army's Colonel B. 20 Indian soldiers including Santosh Babu were martyred. Whereas, 30 to 40 Chinese soldiers were also killed. However, as per its habit, China did not disclose the number of its dead soldiers. Apart from this, China has also been continuously making anti-India statements. China also claims Arunachal Pradesh. In view of this attitude of China, on the orders of Modi government, army had to be deployed on LAC in Eastern Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. Now if after the talks between PM Modi and Jinping, Chinese troops move away from LAC, then it will be a big step towards peace.
