Punjab Police: During the campaign launched to make Punjab a safe state as per the guidelines of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar has exposed a module of cross border smuggling of narcotics and illegal arms by arresting two persons along with 5 kg of ICE (Crystal Methamphetamine) and three modern foreign pistols. This information was given by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav here today.
His splendor motorcycle also confiscated
The arrested persons have been identified as Sohan Singh, resident of Chogawan village, Amritsar, and Salim, resident of Bandala village, Amritsar. The recovered pistols include two 9 mm and one .30 bore pistols and magazines. Apart from this, the police teams have also seized his Splendor motorcycle, which was being used to deliver the consignment of narcotics.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that this module was allegedly being run in collaboration with foreign smugglers and consignments of narcotics and weapons were procured and supplied further through associates.
Giving information regarding this operation, he said that the police teams of CI Amritsar had received credible information about the presence of suspects Sohan Singh and Salim in connection with the delivery of a large consignment of ICE drugs and weapons at Adda Baoli near Mata Kaulan Hospital on Lopoke Road, Amritsar. He said that acting immediately on this information, police teams raided the area and arrested both the suspects along with 5 kg of ICE and three pistols.
In-depth investigation of the case continues
DGP said that the main member of this module has also been identified and raids are being conducted to arrest him. He said that a detailed investigation is underway to trace the back and forth links of this case, so that other persons involved in this module can be identified and the entire network of illegal narcotics and arms trafficking can be exposed.
Case registered under these sections
In this regard, FIR No. 55, dated 09-09-2026, has been registered in the State Special Operation Cell of Amritsar Police Station under Sections 22, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
