There has been a sensation due to the death of about 20 cats and their mutilated bodies being found in Chembur area of Mumbai. Many cats have been missing and killed in Panjrapole area since August. Local cat caretaker and social worker Rubina Pathan recovered the bodies of several cats. The matter became more serious after the mutilated bodies of six cats were found on September 4. The condition of the dead bodies was so horrific that even their internal organs were visible. Now RCF police has registered an FIR against unknown accused and started investigation.
Suspicion increased after bodies of six cats were found
On September 4, Rubina Pathan saw the mutilated bodies of six cats in Panjrapole area. The next day, on September 5, another dead cat was found, while a kitten was found in critical condition. Due to continuous disappearance of cats and then their dead bodies being found, there is an atmosphere of fear among the people living in the area. The biggest question in the minds of the local people is who is targeting the cats and why are they being killed so brutally.
Black magic angle behind the killing of cats?
Now the angle of black magic is also in discussion in this whole matter. Local people suspect whether the killing of cats is linked to any tantric activity or superstition. Some people fear that cats may be being targeted for some Aghori or Tantric activity. However, till now the police investigation has not revealed any concrete evidence which can prove a direct connection between the killing of cats and black magic. In such a situation, this is only a possible angle of investigation at this time.
What are the beliefs about cats in black magic?
In some Tantric beliefs and superstitions, cats are associated with mystical powers. Especially regarding the black cat, there are many types of beliefs in different areas. Due to this superstition, some people believe that cat's body parts are used in so-called Tantric rituals. There have been reports of animals being used allegedly for vashikaran, to hinder enemies, to take revenge or to scare a person. However, these beliefs have no scientific basis.
Police registered FIR, searched for accused through CCTV
After receiving the complaint on September 9, an FIR was registered at the RCF police station. At present the accused has not been identified in this case. The police is scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby and is trying to reach the accused through other clues. The challenge before the police is to find out how the cats were targeted and what was the real motive behind these incidents.
Case registered under animal cruelty law
An FIR has been registered in the case under Section 325 of the Indian Justice Code i.e. BNS and Section 11(1)(a) and 11(1)(l) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Section 325 of the BNS covers the offense of killing, poisoning, injuring or rendering useless any animal. There is a provision of imprisonment up to five years, fine or both in this section.
Announced a reward of Rs 50 thousand
Considering the seriousness of the matter, PETA India, an organization working for animal rights, is also helping in the investigation. PETA India has announced a reward of up to Rs 50,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the accused. The organization has appealed to the people that if anyone has information related to this incident then they should come forward. It has been said that the identity of the person giving information will be kept confidential.
Black magic or some other reason, the secret will be revealed after investigation
After the death of about 20 cats, the biggest question before the police is who is targeting these voiceless animals and why.
