Saharanpur Drugs Bust: Nanuta Police of Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district has achieved a major breakthrough under its anti-drugs drive. Police have arrested 3 drug smugglers including a woman from a dilapidated building. From the accused Rs. A quantity of 590 grams of smack with an international value of Rs 1.2 crore has been seized. One of the arrested accused is a notorious history sheeter of Nanauta police station, who has several serious crimes already registered against him.
The smugglers were caught from the ruins near the cardboard factory
The Nanuta police team was on patrol on Railway Station Road during the anti-drug campaign being conducted on the instructions of senior police officers in Saharanpur. Meanwhile, the police noticed suspicious activity in a dilapidated building near the cardboard factory. Police immediately raided and detained 2 men and 1 woman from there. A large quantity of illegal smack was found on him during the search.
Smack and mobile phone worth ₹1.2 crore seized from the accused
Police investigation has identified the arrested accused as Naushad, Kaleem and Ishrat. Police recovered different quantities of smack from the accused, including 270 grams from Naushad, 260 grams from Ishrat and 60 grams from Kaleem. Thus a total of 590 grams of smack has been seized, the market value of which is around Rs. 1.2 crore has been estimated. Apart from this, 2 mobile phones have also been seized from them.
The main accused is revealed to be a history sheeter
According to police records, the main accused arrested is Naushad Nanauta police station history sheeter. Around 12 criminal cases including Arms Act and Gangster Act have been registered against him in various police stations. Apart from this, a case under the NDPS Act has also been registered against the arrested woman Ishrat. The network has long been known to be selling narcotics in the area.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act
CO Gangoh Shashi Prakash Sharma said that legal action has been taken against the three accused by registering a case under the NDPS Act at the Nanauta police station. With the help of 2 seized mobile phones, the police are now tracing the forward and backward links of this drug network. Inquiries are on as to where this quantity of smack was brought from and to whom it was to be supplied.
