Vidarbha’s 24-year-old fast bowler Praful Hinge, who became an overnight sensation in IPL 2026 with his lethal and accurate fast bowling, has finally reaped the biggest fruits of his labour. The Indian senior selection committee has included Praful Hinge for the first time in the announced India A squad for the two multi-day matches against Australia A in Puducherry. When Praful made his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026, he was hardly known except to a few local cricket fans. When he arrived at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, he had around 6,000 followers on Instagram, but later that night, the entire cricketing world was buzzing with the young sensation.
Praful Hinge made his name in history
Praful Hinge, making his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad, made his name in IPL history in the very first over of the second innings. He became the first bowler in IPL history to take three wickets in the first over of an innings. He dismissed the much talked about young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi just before the over. By the end of the same over, he dismissed Dhruv Jurrell and Luan-Dre Pretorius to break Rajasthan’s back. Hinge, who took four wickets for 34 runs in the match, was also adjudged the player of the match for his dream debut.
Took 47 wickets in less than 2000 balls
Praful Hinge has revolutionized the ball during his short career. In all three formats, he has taken 47 wickets in just 1,995 balls. He has bowled 1515 balls in 19 innings in 10 first-class matches, taking 27 wickets at an average of 26.66. He has also taken 5 wickets in 300 balls in 6 List A innings. He has taken 15 wickets in 8 T20 innings, where his strike rate has been one wicket every 12 balls.
Praful maintained his form
Even after his impressive debut in the IPL, Praful maintained his form, which earned him a promotion to India A. After the IPL, he participated in the Vidarbha Pro T20 League, dismissing eight batsmen there as well. Subsequently, he was invited to play in the Under-25 Emerging Cricket Team at BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Now he will face Australia A under the captaincy of Devdutt Padikal.
