Spirit producer challenges critics ahead of Prabhas film’s release

Spirit producer Pranay Reddy Vanga has challenged critics to target the upcoming Prabhas-Triptii Dimri film once it releases, after facing criticism over his recent production Romanchakam.

Speaking about the mixed reception to the romantic comedy drama, which released on September 3, Pranay pushed back on how easily films get reviewed.

“If you get into production, you understand how hard the director works to execute what’s written and the kind of problems that arise during production,” he said.

He then turned his attention to Spirit, saying, “They plucked feathers from a chicken egg. If they are really capable of doing something, let’s see when Spirit releases. We will see when it releases.”

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Spirit marks his first collaboration with Prabhas, who reportedly plays a powerful police officer in the action drama.

The film has drawn plenty of attention over its cast changes, Deepika Padukone was initially set to star opposite Prabhas before Triptii Dimri came on board, with Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj in key roles.

Sandeep had earlier said the film’s intense content makes an adult rating likely.

Pranay had previously addressed the cast change, citing remuneration and scheduling as key reasons, and claimed Deepika had sought a 10% profit share.

Spirit is set for theatrical release on March 5, 2027.
