PM Modi said at the 18th BRICS summit, the group respects everyone!

The 18th BRICS summit has started. Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated it by welcoming the member countries with open arms in the Bharat Mandapam. In his address, he clarified that this group is not against anyone but tries to respect everyone.

Addressing the conference, the PM said, “I am extremely happy to welcome and congratulate all of you in India. India's BRICS chairmanship is based on a people-centric and humanity-first approach. Resilience, innovation, cooperation and stability have been our priorities. With these priorities, we have laid special emphasis on connecting BRICS cooperation with the common people.”

He further said, “With this thinking, more than 350 meetings were organized. We had the opportunity to welcome your teams in almost 30 cities. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your active contribution and support in making India's BRICS Chairmanship a success.”

Explaining the essence of BRICS, PM Modi said, “This year's BRICS Summit is a historic milestone. We are marking the 20th anniversary of BRICS. The age of 20 marks the beginning of a new phase of maturity and responsibility in human life.

This is the stage when responsibilities are associated with dreams. Strength gets a new direction. Today BRICS is also in its 'coming of age' moment. In the last 20 years, BRICS has created its own unique identity on the global stage. We respect each other's audiences and proceed conscientiously. “We try to move forward with the thought of taking everyone along and not against anyone.”

Talking about the roadmap for the next 20 years, PM Modi said that now is the time to translate our unity and consensus in BRICS into concrete results on the global stage. For the next 20 years we will have to work on a new and ambitious agenda.

We have to start this from our own working system. The chairmanship of BRICS changes every year but our institutional momentum should not stop because of this. I propose a BRICS 'Continuity and Implementation Mechanism'. Under this, all the initiatives and results will be followed up through Troika.”
