Royal Enfield launched the new Himalayan 440 in the Indian market on September 4, 2026. With a starting price of ₹2.29 lakh ex-showroom, this bike is a whopping ₹79,000 cheaper than the Himalayan 450. Hence, this option becomes important for customers who are looking for an adventure bike in a low budget. But there is a big difference in the engine, suspension and features of both the bikes.
Big difference in price and engine
The Himalayan 440 gets a 443cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine. This engine produces 25.4 bhp of power and 34 Nm of torque. A 6-speed gearbox is provided with it. In comparison, the Himalayan 450 has a 452cc liquid-cooled Sherpa engine that produces 39.47 bhp and 40 Nm of torque. So the 450 can perform more powerfully on the highway or uphill roads.

Suspension and off-road capability
Both the bikes get a longer suspension setup and a 21-inch front wheel with adventure riding in mind. The Himalayan 450 gets a 43mm USD front fork, linked monoshock and 230mm ground clearance. With 200mm of suspension travel at the front and rear, it is more capable on tough off-road routes. The Himalayan 440 has a relatively simple telescopic fork and monoshock setup.
