The Security Council is the centerpiece of the peace and security structure of the United Nations. The fact that there are only five permanent members at present is not a reflection of the reality of the 21st century. Be it the Security Council, the international financial Institutions, or any other international organization, need to reflect the reality of 2026 instead of 1945. Now is the time to bring these organizations into line with the reality of today's world so that they can become truly representative and more effective.”
There are currently five permanent member states of the United Nations Security Council. China, France, Russia, America and Britain. In addition to these five members, there has been a long-standing demand for India's permanent membership in the Security Council. China, which has once opposed India's permanent membership in the United Nations, on Saturday called for reforms in the Security Council, flanked by the Chinese president. The way the United Nations directly supported the Prime Minister's proposal, it goes without saying that the pressure on the member countries will increase. Delhi will have veto power if it gets a seat in this committee. In that case, New Delhi will have the power to 'twist the stick' over China's decision.
