God’s Not Dead star Kevin Sorbo has publicly condemned Netflix, calling executives at the streaming platform “sick” over a controversial social media post.
The 67-year-old actor voiced his outrage after Netflix UK & Ireland shared a promo for The Gentlemen starring Theo James on September 10, 2026. Sorbo criticized the timing of the post, linking it to his own past experience pitching faith-based projects to the company.
He wrote on X, “Years ago Netflix brought me in to discuss doing faith-based films. At the end of our meeting, the executives looked at me and said, ‘We understand that there’s an audience for the kind of movies you make; we just don’t know why.’ These people are sick.”
The controversy began after Netflix UK and Ireland posted images from The Gentlemen on September 10. The images depicted Theo James’ character, Eddie Horniman, turning his head abruptly toward Kaya Scodelario’s Susie Glass during a wedding scene, accompanied by the caption, “Nearly did himself a neck injury.”
The phrasing drew criticism because the post was shared exactly one year after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot in the neck. Some viewers interpreted the caption as a reference to his death and criticized Netflix for the timing. However, Netflix rejected that interpretation in a comment to Fox News Digital and said the caption referred to a moment from The Gentlemen.
The scene highlights Eddie’s reaction upon spotting Susie at his wedding during Season 2, which premiered on September 3, 2026. Netflix has already confirmed a third season of The Gentlemen, with Guy Ritchie returning as creator and executive producer.
The Gentlemen stars James as Eddie Horniman, an aristocrat who inherits his family estate and becomes involved in organized crime. Scodelario returns as Susie Glass, while Season 2 adds actors including Hugh Bonneville and Maya Jama. The new season expands Eddie’s criminal operation beyond England as he faces new alliances, enemies, and risks.
