New Delhi. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim over breakfast on Sunday, who came to India to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi. Congress has shared pictures of this meeting on social media platform X.
Rahul-Priyanka met Anwar Ibrahim
While sharing pictures on Twitter, Congress said that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for breakfast in New Delhi. Pictures were also posted on social media by Congress regarding this meeting. Anwar Ibrahim has reached India to participate in the 18th BRICS summit. On Saturday, he participated in the session organized on the topic 'Strengthening Inclusive Global Governance and Multilateralism' of the BRICS Summit. Apart from this, he participated in a tree plantation program in New Delhi along with other leaders of BRICS countries and also attended the gala dinner organized by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Anwar's bilateral meeting with many leaders including Modi
During the BRICS summit, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held separate bilateral meetings with leaders of many countries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also met Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Anwar Ibrahim, both the leaders reiterated their commitment to take forward the India-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Malaysia agrees to open Consulate in India
During the meeting, Anwar Ibrahim also expressed Malaysia's consent to establish the Indian Consulate in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah state of Malaysia. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Modi warmly welcomed the Malaysian Prime Minister to India and appreciated Malaysia's participation as a partner country in the BRICS Summit.
Review of cooperation from business to semiconductor
The two leaders also reviewed the work done after Prime Minister Modi's visit to Malaysia in February 2026. The meeting discussed progress in cooperation in a number of areas including trade, investment, defence, security, semiconductors, infrastructure, digital economy, energy, fintech, education, tourism and people-to-people contacts. The two leaders also exchanged views on issues of regional and global importance. Prime Minister Modi appreciated Malaysia's continued cooperation in strengthening relations between India and ASEAN.
Anwar will meet Grand Mufti of India in Kerala
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will visit Kerala after completing his programs in New Delhi. Here he is proposed to meet the Grand Mufti of India. Anwar Ibrahim told on X that the program of his visit to India also includes going to Kerala and meeting the Grand Mufti of India. During this, views will be exchanged on community development, education and religious matters. After this Anwar Ibrahim will go to Maldives. He told that he will make an official visit to Male on the invitation of President Dr. Mohammad Muizzu. He expressed hope that this visit will be successful and the people of both the countries will get real benefits from it.
