Jamia Millia Islamia Mess Food Found In Lizard: Controversy is continuously increasing regarding lizard being found in the mess food of Jamia Millia Islamia. Regarding the quality of food, on September 11, the students of J&K Girls Hostel also started protesting again against the mess arrangement and quality of food. Hundreds of students of Jamia School also demonstrated outside the Vice Chancellor's office. On the quality of food, students said that lizards were found in the food of the school hostel. This is gross negligence.
The students of J&K Girls Hostel started protesting again on 11 September 2026 at around 9:30 pm regarding the mess arrangements and quality of food. AISA JMI has supported this movement.
AISA JMI alleges that during the earlier protests, the administration had accepted some of the demands of the girl students in writing. They were not implemented later. The protest of the girl students is mainly regarding the issues related to the quality of food, operation of the mess and food vendors. According to AISA, breakfast was not provided in the J&K Girls Hostel on September 11. The organization claims that even lunch was not served on time. Food was served to the hostel girls at around 3 pm. The organization also alleged that male employees were present in the mess when food was served. Apart from this, girl students were asked to enter their name and mobile number to get food.
Food vendors also a major cause of controversy
During the protest, the students said that instead of removing the food vendor whose removal they were continuously demanding, the job of supplying food was again given to him by simply changing his name. According to AISA, the concerned food vendor has been getting the food contract in J&K Girls Hostel from the year 2023. The organization says that even in 2023, the girl students had protested demanding his removal, but despite this his contract continued.
AISA raised questions on Centenary Gate lights being switched off
The organization also raised questions about the role of the administration's proctorial team during the demonstration. AISA alleges that the lights of Centenary Gate were switched off to put pressure on the protesting girl students. The organization called it an inappropriate way to deal with a peaceful protest and said that students who are putting forward their demands should not be treated like this.
Four main demands of students
The students of J&K Girls Hostel put forward four major demands during the protest:-
- 1. Chief among these is the cancellation of the contract of the existing food vendor.
- 2. The second demand is to ensure presence of only women employees in the mess.
- 3. Third demand: The girl students demanded the resignation of the Provost and Warden of the hostel.
- 4. The fourth demand is related to giving assurance that no witch hunting or administrative targeting will be done against the students involved in the protest.
One incident after another raises the issue of clean food on campus.

The students of J&K Girls Hostel are raising questions related to the mess, food vendors and hostel administration.
