New Delhi, September 14 (IANS). The Commerce Ministry is setting up a new Central Processing Department in the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) to launch a faceless trade facilitation system with the aim of promoting trade facilitation for exporters and importers.
A DGFT office memorandum said the Central Processing Department (CPD) will act as a central unit for processing trade related applications. It will be located in the Central Licensing Area of Delhi.
The system is proposed to be dedicated to the nation during the second fortnight of October 2026, the memorandum said.
Faceless Trade Facility is an important initiative of the Government, which aims to enable faceless, paperless and jurisdiction-free processing of trade related applications. This will help reduce processing time, increase transparency and improve ease of doing business for exporters and importers.
The new unit will include officers and staff from DGFT headquarters and its regional authorities.
53 DGFT officers from Delhi and regional centers have been posted or transferred to the department. These include five joint DGFTs, 10 deputy DGFTs and seven assistant DGFTs.
The competent authority has been directed to order posting and transfer of officers to Central Processing Department (CPD), CLA Delhi with immediate effect.
The officers concerned will be relieved from their present duties on 30th September and will have to report to DGFT Headquarters, Vanijya Bhawan, on 5th October for orientation and training. On completion of the orientation and training programme, the officers will join the Central Processing Department at CLA Delhi, the memorandum said.
Heads of the concerned regional or zonal authorities and respective divisions of DGFT (HO) will ensure that the officers are relieved without any exceptions on the above date and the workload, pending files and case records are handed over in an orderly manner. No request for retention, postponement or modification of the appointment will be entertained, the memorandum also said.
