As children and families spend more time online, Qatar has launched a national campaign calling for greater awareness, responsible technology use and stronger family involvement in protecting children from digital risks.
The Ministry of Social Development and Family launched the ‘Digitally Aware Family’ campaign under the slogan ‘Their Protection, Your Responsibility’, with the participation of 20 national entities.
Digital safety starts at home
The campaign highlights that protecting children online is not simply a technical responsibility. It is closely connected with parenting, mental well-being, privacy, family relationships and children’s overall development.
Ministry Undersecretary Khalifa bin Issa Al Kubaisi said families should rely on awareness, open communication and balanced digital habits rather than total restrictions. This approach can help children recognise online risks and feel confident about seeking help when necessary.
Three simple steps for safer digital habits
The initiative focuses on three interconnected stages — Risk Awareness, Practical Protection, and Responsibility and Reporting.
It aims to help children and parents understand online risks, develop safer habits while using social media, games and digital applications, and strengthen cooperation among organisations working on children’s digital safety.
The campaign also targets social and psychological specialists, content creators and family welfare organisations.
A shared responsibility
Alongside the campaign, the ministry launched the official eSafety portal, offering educational guides, awareness material, useful links and other resources for families and the wider community.
The initiative sends a message relevant to families everywhere: keeping children safe online is not about keeping technology away from them, but helping them use it wisely, confidently and responsibly.
