New Delhi: The Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) tightened its grip on an MCD employee who allegedly demanded bribe in the name of releasing the pension amount. ACB arrested dealing assistant Sanjay posted in Shahdara South area red handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10 thousand. The action was taken in the MCD office premises located in Patparganj Industrial Area.
₹70 thousand bribe demanded in the name of releasing pension
Joint Police Commissioner ACB Vikramjit Singh said that complainant Jitendra had given a complaint on September 14 that his father Shailekh Chand had retired from the post of sanitation worker from MCD in the year 2024. Even after almost two years had passed, his pension amount had not been released. It is alleged that dealing assistant Sanjay was continuously demanding bribe for this work. The complainant also talked about giving some amount earlier and alleged that this time he was asked for ₹ 70 thousand.
ACB caught dealing assistant taking ₹10 thousand
After investigating the complaint, ACB laid a trap. The team included Inspector Khemendra Pal Singh, Lady Inspector Khiloni and other policemen. On September 14, at around 4:40 pm, the complainant was sent to the designated place along with the Panch witness. It is alleged that there Sanjay accepted Rs 10,000 from the complainant. As soon as he took the money, the already prepared ACB team caught him.
The accused was sent to judicial custody for 14 days
FIR number 09/2026 has been registered in the matter under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Accused Sanjay has been arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14 days. The role of a person named Saket in the case is also under investigation. According to ACB, further investigation of the case is going on and other aspects related to bribery are also being investigated.
