The new Other Mommy trailer gives the clearest look yet at the terrifying presence in Jessica Chastain’s upcoming horror movie. The latest footage also puts the actor’s unsettling dual performance front and center.
Universal Pictures has released the second official trailer ahead of the film’s theatrical release next month. Chastain plays both Bela’s mother, Ursula, and the mysterious Other Mommy. The entity looks exactly like Ursula, creating a frightening problem for eight-year-old Bela as she tries to understand what is happening around her.

What do we see in the trailer for Other Mommy?
The Other Mommy trailer 2 opens with Bela having fun in the bath with her mother. Everything looks normal until another version of her mom walks into the bathroom. Bela now has two mothers in front of her, and she has no way of knowing which one is real.
The footage then shifts between Bela’s everyday life and increasingly disturbing encounters. She talks about “Other Mommy” while still treating the presence around her as part of her world. That childlike view makes the strange moments even more unsettling.
The trailer also shows Other Mommy behaving in frightening ways around the house. At one point, the entity asks Bela, “Can I go into your heart?” The entity wants complete control over Bela, both mentally and physically. However, it needs Bela to let it in. The question reveals what it wants while keeping the creature’s nature unclear.
Jay Duplass plays Bela’s father, Daddo, while Arabella Olivia Clark plays Bela. Dichen Lachman, Arian Moayed, and Karen Allen also appear in supporting roles.
Directed by Rob Savage, the film adapts Josh Malerman’s bestselling novel Incidents Around the House. Nathan Elston wrote the screenplay, with James Wan producing alongside Atomic Monster. Other Mommy opens in theaters on October 9, 2026.
