BJP should end drug addiction in its states by learning from Punjab: Arvind Kejriwal!

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party over the increasing drug trade in the country. He appealed to the BJP to learn from the Punjab government and take effective action against drugs in the states under its rule.

Arvind Kejriwal claimed that now a large amount of drug supply is reaching Punjab from BJP ruled states instead of Pakistan. According to Kejriwal, when the Aam Aadmi Party government was formed in Punjab in the year 2022, about 80 percent of the drugs were claimed to come from Pakistan. He said that the Punjab government has controlled the supply of drugs coming from across the border to a great extent by taking several steps including anti-drone system.

According to him, now the share of drugs coming from Pakistan has reduced to about 20 percent, while about 80 percent of the drugs are reaching Punjab from BJP ruled or BJP influenced states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Kejriwal raised questions on the central government, especially mentioning Mundra Port in Gujarat. He said that it is the responsibility of the Central Government to stop drugs from coming into India.

They allege that drug consignments are reaching the country through Mundra Port in Gujarat and the central government has failed to stop it. He raised the question that if the Central Government is capable of stopping drug smuggling then why effective action is not being taken in this direction.

The AAP convenor said that BJP has been in power in Gujarat for almost 30 years, despite this the drug trade has not been completely stopped there. Taking aim at the BJP, he said that either the government has failed to stop the drug trade or does not want to stop it. He advised BJP to take action in their states instead of taking out a yatra against drugs in Punjab.

Kejriwal said that BJP should learn from the steps taken by the Punjab government against drugs. He said that instead of giving political color to every issue, all the governments should work together to eliminate the drug problem in the country. He said that if the supply of drugs can be controlled in Punjab, then concrete steps should be taken in this direction in BJP ruled states also.

At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party's national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda also raised questions on BJP on social media platform X. He said that 80 percent of the drugs in Punjab are being claimed to come from BJP ruled states.

He questioned that if the supply of drugs from these states is reaching Punjab then why is it not being stopped. Dhanda further raised the question whether BJP wants to promote drug addiction across the country in collaboration with drug smugglers.
