Ho Chi Minh City named among world’s most attractive shopping destinations

Travel And Tour World (TTW) listed Ho Chi Minh City in 16th place for 2026.

It hailed the city as offering “one of the most vibrant shopping scenes in Southeast Asia,” highlighting its seamless blend of traditional markets, local designer boutiques, and modern shopping malls.

The city is an ideal destination for travelers seeking handcrafted goods, textiles, and Vietnamese-style fashion, it said.

TTW highlighted Ben Thanh Market and other traditional local markets as popular spots to shop for clothing and souvenirs while enjoying an authentic, local-style bargaining experience.

London tops the list, followed by Milan, New York, Shanghai, Paris, Tokyo, Zurich, Sydney, Seoul, and Vienna.

The rankings are based on criteria such as shopping experience, luxury retail networks, iconic shopping streets, traditional markets, artisanal handicrafts, pricing, sustainable retail practices, shopping infrastructure, international brands, and local products.

TTW’s travel experts compiled the index by analyzing global retail trends, shopping-oriented travel behaviors, destination appeal, luxury market dynamics, and visitor preferences.

TTW regularly releases themed destination rankings such as shopping, solo travel, and regional tourism insights.

Its rankings are based on comparative research, public data from tourism boards, and retail industry reports.

Ho Chi Minh City received over 43.2 million visitors in the first eight months of 2026, including 7.8 million from abroad, up 38.5% compared to the same period last year.
