Bhagalpur. The flood situation in Bihar remains extremely serious due to the overflow of major rivers including Ganga, Kosi and Gandak. About 50 lakh population in various districts of the state is affected by this scourge. Amidst this crisis, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary made a joint visit to the flood affected areas of Bhagalpur on Wednesday.
Both the leaders took detailed stock of the flood and severe erosion situation through aerial survey. After aerial inspection, both the leaders reached relief camps, where they talked directly to the flood victims and shared their pain and suffering. In the camps, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister thoroughly inspected the arrangements made for food, pure drinking water, health facilities and education of the displaced children.
While consoling the affected, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Natural disasters keep coming and going, but the main effort of our government is that the public should not face any kind of problem in this time of crisis. The Central Government stands strongly with the flood affected families of Bihar and especially the farmers.”
He assured that a detailed assessment of the damage caused to crops, houses and animals due to flood water will be done and all possible financial and practical assistance will be provided to the victims.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has given strict instructions to the administrative officials not to show any negligence in relief work. Along with this, he informed that a high level central team will soon visit the state to make an accurate assessment of the severity and loss of floods in Bihar. The state government is also continuously working on the master plan for far-reaching and sustainable water management of this disaster. This quick visit of the Chief Minister and the Union Minister has raised hopes of great relief for the affected villagers.
