Theft worth lakhs by cutting shutters, two accused caught through CCTV

Raipur. Police have arrested two accused in the case of theft of gold and silver jewellery, coins and cash by cutting the shutter gate of an abandoned house in Purani Basti police station area.

According to the police, stolen jewellery, silver coins, cash and cash worth about Rs 3.50 lakh along with the Bullet vehicle used in the incident have been recovered from the possession of the accused.

The arrested accused are Bhupendra Patel alias Ghazni (26), resident of Gopiapara and Karan Tandi (24), resident of Dabripara Kushalpur, Raipur.

According to the police, the victim, a resident of Professor Colony, had gone out after locking his house on August 27. On August 31, a woman working in the house informed that the shutter gate was broken and things were scattered.

After this, when the applicant reached home and checked, the silver items and jewellery, gold coins, chain, earrings, nosepin, bracelet, pearl necklace, mobile phone and other items kept in the cupboard were found missing. Based on the report, a crime was registered at Purani Basti police station and investigation was started.

Considering the seriousness of the incident, a joint team of Anti Crime and Cyber ​​Unit and Purani Basti Police was formed. The team inspected the spot and scanned the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby and started monitoring the activities of the accused who were previously involved in theft and embezzlement cases.

During investigation, police got information about suspicious sighting of surveillance criminal Bhupendra Patel alias Ghazni near the incident site. The police took him into custody and interrogated him.

According to the police, during interrogation he confessed to the theft along with his partner Karan Tandi. After this Karan was also arrested.

Police have taken action by recovering stolen goods and Bullet vehicle from the possession of both the accused. According to the police, four previous cases of arson and theft are registered against Bhupendra in Purani Basti police station, while Karan Tandi has also been jailed in two cases of theft and arson.
