IPL 2027 Auctions and WPL Auctions : Indian Cricket Board i.e. BCCI has taken a big decision and is going to conduct the auction of IPL 2027 in India. Following the 2023 auction held in Kochi, the event has been held abroad in recent years, with Dubai, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi hosting subsequent editions. Now BCCI is going to change this trend. At the same time, the auction of Women's Premier League (WPL) will be held in Kochi.

According to media reports, BCCI has decided to bring the IPL auction back to India, as it will be a mini-auction. It is also being said that the mega auction to be held next year may again be held abroad. This decision was one of the important decisions taken in the IPL Governing Council meeting held on Tuesday (September 15). Which is also in line with the confidence given to the franchises who had expressed concern over the logistical and operational challenges of taking their delegation abroad for the mini-auction.
The report further said that BCCI members had considered his views during the auction held in Abu Dhabi last year. Accordingly, the Governing Council of IPL decided to choose any city in the country as the venue for this year's auction. Along with this, it has been kept in mind that the wedding season in India is from October to December, and the city will be selected based on the availability of five-star hotels during that time. Meanwhile, the Governing Council is yet to take a decision on the 'Impact Player' rule.
On the other hand, BCCI has told the Women's Premier League (WPL) teams that the Season 5 auction will be held on October 28 in Kochi. This information was officially given to the five teams on Wednesday (September 16). The five teams have time till September 28 to decide whether to retain or release their players. It is believed that BCCI has selected Mumbai and Vadodara as the venues for the season. This season is expected to take place in January-February like last year.
