Panchayati Raj Minister in Uttar Pradesh government, Om Prakash Rajbhar informed on Wednesday that the cases registered against Panchayat assistants during the agitation in the state will be withdrawn. He told that the helpers who were removed during the movement will be reinstated. Also, they will be given Rs 9,000 every month.
Om Prakash Rajbhar told journalists on Wednesday, “Our Panchayat assistants were sitting on strike since the 24th and when I came to Lucknow on Monday, I talked to some colleagues, the demand of these people is a legitimate demand. I have spoken to the Chief Minister this morning. After the conversation, the announcement of giving Rs 9,000 per month to all our Panchayat assistants has been made after the talks with the Chief Minister.”
Rajbhar said that we were adamant on Rs 8,000. Then we had assured that we will talk to the Chief Minister and now after talking to you people we will try to get more done. Now you will get Rs 9 thousand per month. The total number of those assistants is more than 57 thousand.
He said that the family of every Panchayat assistant will get cashless facility. Rajbhar said that all the cases against those against whom action was taken during the movement will be withdrawn and those who have been removed will be reinstated.
It is noteworthy that recently Panchayat assistants demonstrated at various places in Uttar Pradesh demanding increase in their honorarium.
In 2022, the state government had appointed approximately 100 Panchayat Assistants to streamline the administrative work in Gram Panchayats. He was officially appointed as Panchayat Assistant/Accountant-cum-Data Entry Operator. This state initiative was aimed at decentralizing service delivery and making administrative functioning accessible to the rural population.
