Patna. To strengthen road connectivity in Bihar, work is underway on a plan for a 350 km long four-lane corridor between Buxar and Bhagalpur. The proposed route is planned to connect both banks of river Ganga. After completion of the project, the travel time between Buxar and Bhagalpur is expected to reduce significantly.
12 districts will get benefit
It has come to light that 12 districts of North and South Bihar will get connectivity through the proposed corridor. These include Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Khagaria and Katihar of North Bihar and Buxar, Bhojpur, Patna, Lakhisarai, Munger and Bhagalpur of South Bihar.
Four lane road will be built over the dam
Under the plan, there is a proposal to build dams on both banks of the Ganga and develop a four-lane road over it. There is also a plan to build bridges at places coming in the way of small and big rivers. This will make transportation easier between the areas situated on both sides of the river.
Trade and traffic will get a boost
With the construction of a four-lane corridor, travel between many parts of Bihar can become easier and connectivity towards Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal can be improved. A plan to connect the proposed expressway with Purvanchal Expressway has also been announced. At present, the process of preparing the DPR of the project is going on, after which further action will be taken.
