The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested 3 people, including an Inspector of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), on charges of taking bribe of Rs 15 lakh. CBI had registered a case against the MCD inspector and other accused on 16 September 2026. According to the investigating agency, the accused are accused of taking bribe in exchange for permission to install and display billboards, hoardings and LED displays even after the tender period was over. According to the CBI, the allegations also include that the accused allegedly gave permission to put up and display more than the sanctioned number of billboards in exchange for huge sums of money. In this case, investigation is being done regarding bribe transactions and alleged irregularities.
After the FIR was registered, CBI conducted a trap operation in New Delhi on 16 September. According to the investigating agency, during this period, a senior secretariat assistant of MCD and two private persons were arrested while accepting bribe of Rs 15 lakh. CBI said that in connection with the investigation of the case, searches were also conducted at the accused and their associated places. During this period, Rs 25.25 lakh cash was recovered. According to the investigating agency, more searches are still being conducted at different places related to the case.
In a separate case, CBI has registered a case against Dilip Kumar Chawla, Chief Office Superintendent of Northern Railway Central Hospital, Delhi, and his wife Jyoti Chawla. Both are accused of acquiring assets disproportionate to their known sources of income between January 2, 2023 and February 19, 2026. According to the CBI FIR, during this period the couple was found to have assets worth Rs 89.51 lakh, which is said to be more than their known sources of income. The investigating agency alleges that Dilip Kumar Chawla allegedly amassed and amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income during this period. CBI has registered an FIR in the case and started investigating the income, property and financial transactions related to it.
