Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was named in the India squad for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies. The 37-year-old last played the fifty-over format earlier this year against New Zealand at home in January. The selectors have recalled him as Axar Patel will be representing the Men in Blue in the Asian Games 2026.
Jadeja took to social media and posted a story with a picture of himself in the blue jersey, adding two folded hands emojis and a crossed emoji. His reaction came after several reports suggested that the player wasn’t in the plans for the next ODI World Cup.

Jadeja will be keen to grab the chance with both hands and show the selectors that he can still play for India in the ODI World Cup. He has been a part of 210 ODIs and scored 2905 runs at an average of 32. The legendary southpaw has also hit 13 half-centuries.
With the ball, the left-arm spinner has grabbed 232 wickets with two fifers, one of which was against the West Indies in the 2013 Champions Trophy. He is also placed seventh in the all-time leading wicket-takers list for India in the ODI format. Jadeja will have to contribute in all the matches, as any failure could end his career in this format of the game. If he manages to contribute across departments, it will give the selection committee a massive headache ahead of the five-match ODI series in New Zealand next month.

Naman Dhir a surprise selection
The 26-year-old Mumbai Indians batter Plant Man is a surprise selection in the Indian squad. The player made headlines recently when he scored 173 in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 Cup. Naman has played 14 matches in List A cricket, scored 351 runs with four fifties, and has also taken seven wickets.
Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi was part of the Indian team in Sri Lanka but didn’t make his debut. He has been given his maiden ODI call-up. The 29-year-old is currently playing County Cricket for Surrey. Nabi has picked up 56 wickets from 36 List A games, with a best of 4/39.
Auqib has also done well with the bat, scoring 572 runs, including one century, and has an average of 27 and a strike rate of 111. It remains to be seen whether he makes his debut, considering the pace attack has Mohammed Siraj, Gurnoor Brar, and Prasidh Krishna. Gurnoor and Prasidh have been consistent fixtures in the ODI setup in the last few months.
