New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi on Thursday extended birthday greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, wishing him good health and a long life as he turned 76.
Modi, who was born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, Gujarat, marked his 76th birthday on Thursday. Both Kharge and Gandhi posted messages on X, offering their felicitations to the prime minister.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in a string of posts on X, lauded Modi’s 25 years in public service, calling his journey from a humble volunteer to chief minister and then prime minister a story of sacrifice, dedication to the nation and steadfast determination. Shah said Modi had always treated power as an instrument for uplifting the poor and advancing nation-building.
Shah listed key schemes under Modi — Ayushman Bharat, Startup India, Skill India, the National Education Policy and the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam — and flagged big infrastructure wins like the Chenab Railway Bridge and Vande Bharat trains.
He also praised Modi’s tough stand on terrorism, citing the abrogation of Article 370, surgical and air strikes, and Operation Sindoor.
Wishing Modi good health and a long life, Shah said he hoped India would stay on track to become a developed nation by 2047.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also conveyed birthday greetings to Modi, stating that under his leadership India was advancing towards the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ objective. He pointed to advances in infrastructure, digital connectivity, welfare schemes, innovation and entrepreneurship, as reported by The New Indian Express.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman wished Modi a long and healthy life, saying he was guiding the country towards ‘Viksit Bharat’ amid “turbulent times”.
DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin too sent birthday wishes, hoping for Modi’s good health, happiness and a long life. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was among several other leaders who greeted the prime minister.
Meanwhile, the BJP is preparing to roll out a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ across the Kashi region from September 17 to October 17 to commemorate Modi’s 25 years in public life. The initiative will centre on public service, effective governance, welfare programmes and the vision of a developed India.
A highlight of the campaign will be a bike yatra from Kashi to Vadnagar, starting on September 17 and ending around October 7 at Modi’s native village.
