Swara Bhaskar's controversial statement
Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar has once again become a topic of discussion on social media due to her statements. Recently in 'The Midnight Hour' podcast, he expressed his disappointment over the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid verdict in 2019. Swara said that when the Supreme Court decision came, she felt “very ashamed” being a Hindu. After this, he sent messages to his Muslim friends to apologize.
In the podcast, Swara said that she messaged all her Muslim friends on her phone, saying, “As a Hindu, I am truly sorry and I do not agree with this decision.”
His statement drew mixed reactions on social media, with many users criticizing his stance. The Ayodhya dispute was related to the site where the Babri Masjid was demolished in 1992. In November 2019, the Supreme Court handed over the disputed land for the construction of Ram temple and directed to give five acres of alternative land for the mosque.
On 9 November 2019, a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court unanimously handed over the disputed land for the construction of Ram temple. This decision legally ended the long-running ownership dispute.
Responding to Swara's statement, a user said, “Swara Bhaskar was upset with the Ram Mandir decision. Sometimes I feel bad for her; she keeps praising Bollywood in the hope of getting work, but she doesn't get work.”
Another user wrote, “Swara felt sorry for the Ram Janmabhoomi decision. We feel sorry for her. She saw the court order. We saw Ram.”
In the same interview, Swara also talked about Umar Khalid, who played the role of 'Cupid' in her and her husband Fahadh Ahmed's love story. Fahadh told that Khalid gave him Swara's number.
Umar Khalid was arrested under UAPA on 13 September 2020. He was accused of being involved in the conspiracy behind the 2020 North-East Delhi riots.
Fahadh said that he followed his friend's advice and called Swara. Swara said that she usually does not answer calls from unknown numbers, but that time she did so because she was involved in the movement against CAA.
They first met during the anti-CAA protests, and the couple filed their marriage papers in January 2023. On 16 February 2023, they got the marriage registered under the Special Marriage Act.
