New Delhi: Shahdara District Police has taken up security regarding Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections. Before voting, security arrangements are being completely tightened in the college campuses. In this series, Shahdara District Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajendra Prasad Meena visited Shyam Lal College and Vivekananda College and took stock of the security preparations.
Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have reached the polling stations for the elections. Voting is to be conducted in two shifts in Shyam Lal College. Special deployment of police personnel has been made to maintain law and order at the polling stations along with the security of EVMs.
DCP reviewed the security arrangements of polling stations
During the inspection, the DCP gave necessary directions to the police officers and security personnel. Crowd control, entry and exit arrangements around the polling stations and preparations to deal with any untoward situation were closely reviewed.
Surveillance will be done with additional police force and drones
Shahdara police has also deployed additional outside police force to strengthen the security arrangements. Drone surveillance arrangements have been made to keep an eye on sensitive activities. Police vigilance has been increased in the college campuses as well as in the surrounding areas.
Police geared up for peaceful voting
Senior officers including Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Geetanjali Khandelwal were present during the inspection. The police have a clear focus that the voting process should be conducted in a safe, peaceful and orderly manner and any rule violation or disorder should be dealt with immediately.
