PM Modi Birthday: PM Modi turns 76, economic picture of the country changed under 12 years of leadership; Big achievements from Jan Dhan to Startup

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 76 on Thursday, under his 12 years of leadership as PM, the country has achieved many achievements at the economic level. This includes extending banking services to the last person through Jan Dhan accounts, giving growth to startups, record foreign exchange reserves and rapid GDP growth. Jan Dhan Yojana, launched in the first term of PM Modi, has helped in connecting a large number of weaker sections with banking services.

Under this scheme, 59.21 crore banking accounts have been opened till September 2, 2026. A total amount of Rs 3.17 lakh crore is deposited in it. In this, 32.98 crore accounts are owned by women. Also, 46.03 crore accounts are in rural and semi-rural areas. PM Modi's contribution is also important in creating a big startup ecosystem in the country. The number of startups recognized by DPIIT has increased to more than 2.47 lakh in August, 2026, from only 502 in 2016.

Real GDP increased by 7.8 percent in the first quarter

During this period, the country's performance on the economic front has also been excellent. India's real GDP grew at 7.8 per cent in Q1FY27 (April-June period), making it the world's fastest growing economy. It is getting support from both manufacturing and services. The size of India's GDP is about 4.15 trillion dollars.

Foreign exchange reserves also at record level

India's foreign exchange reserves stood at $785.7 billion in the week ending September 4, 2026, the highest ever level. Now India ranks fourth in the world in foreign exchange reserves after China, Japan and Switzerland. It has been increasing for 10 consecutive weeks and during this period it has increased by about 120 billion dollars.
