New Delhi: During the BRICS summit, a moment was seen between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, which caught everyone's attention. PM Modi was giving his address in the opening session of the summit on Saturday. During this time, his eyes fell on Xi Jinping, who was looking somewhat uncomfortable. PM Modi immediately stopped his speech for some time.
Asked about health
It was seen in the video footage that the Prime Minister asked the translator present with Xi Jinping, "Is he okay?" After some time, Modi again asked about his health. However, it was not immediately clear what was causing Xi Jinping trouble at that time. After a few seconds, the Chinese President responded by nodding, after which PM Modi resumed his address.
It was reported that this incident happened between 4 minutes 40 seconds to 5 minutes 11 seconds of PM Modi's initial speech. Although this may have been a small incident of a few seconds, it attracted a lot of attention during the meeting of the two leaders.
Xi Jinping did not attend the dinner
No official information has yet been revealed by China regarding the reason for Xi Jinping's uneasiness. The special thing was that later he did not even attend the gala dinner organized by Prime Minister Modi. However, before this he had held a bilateral meeting with PM Modi.
There were many discussions at the dinner regarding his absence. No official reason was given by India or China for this. However, according to a source, Xi Jinping was tired due to his busy schedule throughout the day and returned to the hotel to rest. The Chinese President had a very busy schedule on Saturday. He left China in the morning and reached Delhi around noon. After this, the BRICS conference started at around 2 pm and then he had a bilateral meeting with PM Modi.
Last meeting was in Tamil Nadu in 2019
Before the start of the summit, PM Modi warmly welcomed Xi Jinping at the Bharat Mandapam. The two leaders joined hands in front of a photo of the 1,212-pillared corridor of the Ramanathaswamy temple. After this, PM Modi was seen telling them about the specialty and architecture of this corridor.
The last meeting of the two leaders in India was in Tamil Nadu in October 2019. At the same time, after the Galwan conflict of 2020, tension in the relations between the two countries had increased. However, since 2024, efforts to improve relations between India and China have intensified. Both countries have resumed direct flights and India has also relaxed some rules related to Chinese investment.
