Gaurav finally took a big risk and resigned from his job overnight and took a personal loan of Rs 3-4 lakh and spent six months in Mumbai studios without informing his family. When he did not get any positive results for months and started running out of money, he again started working in a company due to his financial constraints. However, fate had other plans; Within just 15 days of joining the job, he got a call for the lead role in his first TV show 'Jamuniya' and he never looked back. Star Plus's historical serial 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' proved to be the most decisive turning point in Gaurav Sharma's acting career. The character of the deadly villain 'Rajkumar' played in this serial made him recognized across the country overnight. The actor proudly shares that the show has been on the air for over a decade, but even today, whenever he steps out in public, people call him 'Rajkumar'. After this, he stepped into the comedy genre and played a central role in the famous TV sitcom 'Uff Ye Nadaniyaan' and showed his versatility through the talk show 'Total Nadaniyaan'. When digital streaming and OTT platforms were in their nascent stages in India, Gaurav impressed the digital audience by playing lead roles in much-talked-about web series like 'Poison' and 'Karma Calling'. That terrible phase of 2022: The project got canned, four years of savings were lost and Gaurav went into depression. While climbing the stairs of success, Gaurav Sharma had taken an independent decision of producing a large-scale web series as a producer in the year 2022. To make this ambitious project a reality, Gaurav had put his entire hard-earned money and life savings of the last three to four years of his career at stake. Unfortunately, due to many unexpected obstacles and production complications, the web series was completely shelved midway and was never released. After losing his life's wealth in one stroke, Gaurav went into deep depression and despair. During that difficult and frightening period, his mother became his biggest support. His mother hugged him and consoled him that money is just dirt on the hands which can be earned again, the real capital is a person's courage and talent. This unwavering faith of his mother revived Gaurav and he started working with renewed enthusiasm, the happy result of which was that he recovered his entire financial loss within the next one year. Why did you leave number 1 shows like 'Anupama' and 'Jhanak' midway? Gaurav Sharma refused to become the father of a 21 year old child. He has been an important part of both Star Plus' TRP topper serials 'Anupama' and 'Jhanak', but he had said goodbye to both these blockbuster serials midway. Revealing the real reason for this bold decision, Gaurav said that a long generation leap was being brought in the story of both the serials. After the leap, the makers wanted to significantly increase the age of his on-screen character to show him as the father of a 21-year-old adult boy. Gaurav clearly realized that accepting the role of a father to a 21-year-old at the current stage of his career might put him at risk of being typecast for his future. Gaurav very politely expressed his views to producer Rajan Shahi and said that he wants to try himself in different types of challenging roles, which Rajan Shahi happily accepted. This was also the main creative reason behind leaving 'Jhanak'. Gaurav is the nephew of famous novelist Ved Prakash Sharma: 'Jhilmil' written by himself, 'Moonbathers' coming soon. Very few people know that Gaurav Sharma is not only a great actor, but literature and writing are also deeply embedded in his blood. Late Ved Prakash Sharma, the renowned Meerut-based and India's most popular Hindi thriller novelist, was Gaurav's maternal uncle. Growing up seeing the immense madness of readers towards his uncle's books, Gaurav himself took up the pen and wrote the famous novel 'Jhilmil' based on the tragedy of innocent children working in the dangerous swamps of mica mining. Gaurav is currently preparing to make a feature film on this heart-touching novel. 'Haider' made in Colors' 'Sehar Hone Ko Hai': There is a special connection with Vishal Bhardwaj's cult film. Gaurav is very excited about the villain character he is currently playing in Colors TV's serial 'Sehar Hone Ko Hai'. Sharing the most interesting reason for signing this show, he said that the approach of the director and makers in presenting this show is completely out of the box and very close to reality. The most special thing was that when the makers told him the name of this grey-character 'Haider', he immediately agreed to this role. According to Gaurav, director Vishal Bhardwaj's Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Haider' has been his all-time favorite film, and this was the reason why he felt like accepting the project as soon as he heard the name of the character.
