In this, the 94 arts of the Goddess and her many divine qualities are honored through the seven chakras of the Mother Goddess. These centers are purified and energized with sacred water and mantras, so that the living presence of consciousness can flow into them.

The actress told that during this ritual, she felt a special purpose behind every mantra, every offering and every step. There was nothing without reason in this. In the ritual of Kala Vapar, a pregnant woman is considered like a goddess. She is respected as the woman through whom a new life is about to be born. Samantha told that this ritual is a blessed experience not only for the child but also for the mother. During this time, the woman herself enters a new phase of life and is born in a new form.

After the anointment and bath, the pregnant woman is made to sit right in the middle of the Sri Chakra Yantram. It is a geometric shape which is the center of Srividya worship. If you’ve ever seen one, it’s made up of interconnected triangles arranged into nine covers. These coverings are believed to represent different stages of the spiritual journey. The Bindu is located exactly in the center, symbolizing the point of origin of all creation and in this tradition, it is the seat of the goddess Lalita Tripurasundari herself. While the Mother is seated there, the priest recites a long, layered prayer called Devi Khadgamala, invoking the names of the gods and goddesses and divine powers associated with those nine chambers. This prayer moves from the outermost layer to the center, symbolically moving the mind inward, toward peace and security.
