Desk: Parliamentary elections are going on in Russia, meanwhile the Ukrainian army has fired more than 1600 drones on Russia overnight. Most of these drone attacks have been carried out on the capital Moscow. Russia was targeted by Ukraine at a time when it was the third and last day of parliamentary elections in the Kremlin. The mayor of Moscow described the drone attack as the “biggest ever” attack on the Russian capital. He said, “It has also caused damage to an oil refinery and a residential building in Moscow.”
According to local governor Andrey Vorobyov, these attacks were carried out in the area around Moscow. At present two people have died here and 20 people have been injured. The two people who died include a 74-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman. At present, there has been no immediate statement from Ukraine regarding this attack.
The recent parliamentary elections held in Russia were completely under the control of President Vladimir Putin and his government (Kremlin), with no one to oppose his policies. Since this election took place amidst the Ukraine war, it has been called the country's first 'wartime election'.
Since Russia's invasion more than four years ago, Ukraine has become the world leader in military drone technology. It is using long-range drones made in its country along with missiles to attack deep inside Russia. Its drone technology has impressed governments and defense manufacturers around the world.
Kiev's aim is to make the Russian people realize the consequences of war and to put pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to make a peace agreement. Putin has not yet given any indication that he wants to stop the attack.
Direct fighting on the ground in eastern and southern Ukraine has slowed down. The main reason for this is that a large number of drones and ground robots are deployed in the battlefield. They immediately see any movement of the soldiers and attack them. Because of this, face-to-face conflict is decreasing. Now instead Moscow and Kiev are increasing remote air and missile attacks on each other.
