Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav, pointing towards the alleged encounter involving Kanpur gangster Vikas Dubey, taunted that if his party comes to power after the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, he will get the 'remote sensing' department investigated into the 'car overturning' incident.
Gangster Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the incident of killing eight policemen by ambushing them by firing bullets from the rooftop in the Bikaru area of Kanpur Dehat on the night of 2-3 July 2020, had allegedly met with an accident and 'overturned' the police vehicle while being brought from Ujjain to Kanpur on 10th July and the police claims that Dubey was killed in an encounter with the police while trying to escape after the accident.
Speaking to reporters at the party office in Lucknow, the SP chief said all modern technologies including remote sensing will be used primarily for the benefit of farmers as well as in the areas of healthcare, education and agriculture.
Without naming anyone, Akhilesh Yadav, pointing to the death of gangster Vikas Dubey in an alleged encounter, said, “Remote Sensing Department is a very old department. We will definitely entrust this department with the task of investigating the incident to find out how the vehicle overturned.'' He said, ''We will give them separate funds… whether it is Rs 50 crore or Rs 100 crore… and will direct them to trace the movement of those vehicles, where did they start from and how did they reach that place? Apart from this, we will use remote sensing and artificial intelligence to tackle crime, which will also help in shedding light on incidents like fake encounters.
Akhilesh has already raised questions on the encounter
The SP chief had raised questions over the killing of gangster Vikas Dubey in an encounter. He had said that the car had not overturned, but it was an attempt to save the government from falling so that the 'truth' does not come out. Police had claimed that Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter after the police vehicle being taken from Ujjain to Kanpur met with an accident on July 10 and he tried to flee the spot.
