Delhi 1000 Acres ridge declared as Reserved Forest: Rekha Gupta Government has taken a big decision to clean the polluted air of the country's national capital Delhi. Rekha Gupta government of Delhi has declared 1 thousand acre ridge in Delhi as reserved forest. On this decision, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said that it has been brought not just for legal protection but to revive the ridge area.
Let us tell you that the ridge spread in the southern part of Delhi is 6200 hectares and is the largest ridge system of Delhi. After the completion of the process of notification of this decision, the total area of such protected forest areas in Delhi will be approximately 13 thousand acres.
On the decision, the Delhi Chief Minister said that her government is making efforts to restore those areas of the ridge which have deteriorated over time. Rekha Gupta said that the aim of the government is not only to provide legal protection to these ridge areas by declaring them as reserved forest zones, but efforts will also be made to revive the ecosystem of this ridge.
Protected forests are being declared rapidly
Let us tell you that the ridge area of Delhi is a part of the Aravalli Mountain Series. This ridge area is counted among the greenest areas of the country's capital Delhi. In such a situation, many cases continuously come up in this area regarding cutting of trees, any kind of construction or occupation of land and court cases also start. Whereas in Delhi, the process of declaring the ridge area as reserve forest was started in 1994. At that time a large part of Delhi Ridge was declared as protected forest and work for the same was started. However, during this period, there were many parts of Delhi whose ridge areas either did not get the status of protected forest or even got it very late. This process, which was stuck for a long time, has now gained momentum. Earlier in March, the government had declared some areas of the southern ridge as reserve forest. Now once again in May, some parts of the southern ridge have been declared reserve forest.
